FAQ

What is the Module Growth Rate?

Each Microalgae module has 20 thousand liters of water:  In the Beta version the growth rate is 0.5 grams of biomass per liter per day.

0.5 grams of biomass per liter per day × 20,000 liters = 10,000 grams of biomass per day.

To convert this to kilograms per day:

10,000 grams = 10 kilograms 10,000 grams = 10 kilograms

10 kilograms × 30 days = 300 kilograms per month

What is the Carbon Neutralization Rate?

Carbon is considered the most important macronutrient in microalgae cultivation, which is due to the fact that it constitutes an average of 50% of microalgal dry biomass. Periódicos UFSC.

What is a Third Party Audit?

We developed our own methodology, which consists of determining the density of microalgae. Auditable and validated by a third party. Via elemental analysis (CHN).

CHN Elemental Analysis

CHN Elemental Analysis is a laboratory technique used to determine the amount of carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen in a sample. The acronym CHN refers to the three main chemical elements that are analyzed by this method. This technique is especially useful in several areas of chemistry, biology, materials science and other disciplines where the elemental composition of a sample is important.

The basic process of CHN elemental analysis involves controlled burning of the sample in a pure gas environment (such as oxygen), usually in a high-temperature oven. During burning, the organic compounds present in the sample are decomposed into their constituent elements, releasing carbon dioxide (CO2), water (H2O) and molecular nitrogen (N2).

After the sample decomposes, the resulting gases are separated and directed to specific detectors that can measure the amount of each element present. Carbon dioxide, water and nitrogen are often analyzed using infrared or thermal detectors.

From the amounts of CO2, H2O and N2 produced during the burning of the sample, it is possible to calculate the proportion of carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen present in the original sample. This data is then used to determine the elemental composition of the sample and calculate the amount of each element as a percentage or by mass.

CHN elemental analysis is a technique widely used in scientific research, especially in the characterization of organic compounds, biomass, polymeric materials, among others. It is a valuable tool for understanding the chemical composition of a variety of materials and samples, providing important information about their structure and properties.

How is Microalgae Density Determined?

Determining the density of microalgae  can be carried out in several ways. InGreen CPR modules we use 2 (two) common methods:

Dry Biomass: This method involves measuring the dry mass of a known sample of microalgae and its corresponding density. Generally, microalgae are harvested, washed and dried before measurement. Density is then calculated by dividing the dry mass by the volume occupied by the sample.

Cell Count: In certain cases, especially when cell density needs to be determined for biological studies, microalgae density can be estimated by counting cells under a microscope. This can be done using counting chambers or automated image analysis techniques.

What is Green CPR?

A Green Rural Product Certificate (CPR), Created by the Brazilian government, it is a financial instrument that rewards rural producers for their commitment to environmental preservation and sustainable agricultural practices. It offers a unique opportunity for farmers and aquaculturists, such as Aquiman, receive financial incentives for their efforts to promote sustainability.

How does CPR Verde work?

The Green CPR, operates through an environmental credit system. Rural producers who adopt sustainable practices, such as conserving native forest areas, responsible use of water and reducing carbon emissions, can receive environmental credits. These credits can then be traded on the market, allowing companies and investors to buy and sell these assets.

Who Can Issue a CPR?

The Green CPR can be issued by rural producers, associations and cooperatives. The issuance must be accompanied by certification carried out by an external audit or third party, indicating and specifying the rural products that support it.

LAW 10,828 of October 1, 2021

Federal Decree 10,828 of October 1, 2021, regulated the issuance of the Rural Product Certificate - CPR related to conservation and recovery activities of native forests and their biomes, known as “Green CPR”. These activities were already included in Law No. 8,929/94, which established the CPR in Brazil.

What is the objective of Green CPR?

As reported by the Federal Government, Green CPR was designed as “a market alternative, for immediate and large-scale adoption, of Payment for Environmental Services – PSA”.

The ISIN Code is inserted into the Green CPR, which is the international securities identification number.

Microalgae x Trees

  1. Tree Cultivation:

Time: The time needed to neutralize a ton of carbon by growing trees can vary significantly depending on the tree species, growing environment, and other factors. On average, a tree can absorb around 22 kg of CO2 per year. So, to neutralize one ton of carbon, approximately 45-50 trees would be needed.
Physical space: The space required to grow trees also depends on several factors, such as the spacing between trees, the type of soil, the availability of sunlight, among others. Using a typical 3 meter spacing between trees, the 50 trees required would occupy approximately 150 linear meters, i.e. an area of about 450-600 square meters, depending on the arrangement.

    Microalgae Cultivation:

Time: Microalgae have a much faster growth rate than trees and are highly efficient at absorbing carbon. However, the specific amount of carbon that one ton of microalgae can absorb in a year can vary based on growing conditions, microalgae species, and cultivation method. On average, at CPR Microalgae© our module can exceed 1,500 kg per year.
Physical space: Growing microalgae generally requires less space than growing trees. Microalgae can be grown in closed systems, such as photobioreactors, or in open lagoons. On average, to neutralize one ton of carbon, growing microalgae may require a smaller area than growing trees.

Subscription Plans

CPR's are maintained for a period of 12 months. Payment is by monthly or annual plans. With capacity of 100 kg, 500 kg and 1 Ton, of annual carbon neutralization.

Dashboard

The tool allows public access to systematized data on the cultivation of CPR Microalgae©

Rural Producer Invoice

The rural producer's electronic invoice is a record of the circulation of goods. The document was implemented by Technical Standard 2018.001, allowing rural producers who have a State Registration linked to their CPF to issue NF-e through ERPs acquired by taxpayers.

Members area

A restricted area, which offers automated access control. We publish reports and documents on the evolution of microalgae cultivation in CPR Microalgae© modules.
